HISTORY

Inflate began as a team of three designers fresh from college – and quickly took on a fourth designer who studied Law! Inflate’s ethos stems from a desire to add a bit of humour to people’s everyday lives by creating interesting spaces and products that capture the essence of fun.

We also want to change peoples’ impression of design by breaking down the 80s perception of design being for and aimed at wealthy patrons demanding exclusive one offs.

We realised that in order to achieve this, our products had to be fun, functional and affordable hence bringing it to the masses, without losing the creative expression one offs offer. On the occasion we did stretch this – egg cup, sugar shaker, wine rack, But in other products we captured a good balance – table light, UFO light, FS Screen.

Inflate became fashionable in the 90s and this gave momentum to what we did but as with fashion, it moves on leading to a radicalised change in the studio. The emphasis in the studio for the last five years has been to use our knowledge as product designers to take the notion of mass production. With new people in the studio and a new vision the change began to happen and our first big commission came from British Land in 2002, for a 22m structure to cover Broadgate Arena (City of London).  For me inflate is personal but is as much a journey as it is a design and production studio.

Inflate ‘Ideas’ is at the core of everything connected with Inflate.  It’s the hub, the heart beat – the breath that breathes life into the immaculate conceptions that materialize from the business.

Within this think tank the ‘ideas’ team spend time exploring a multitude of things – trends, techniques, materials, obscure combinations, markets and opportunities…………..basically the unknown!

It stems from the insatiable fascination in all things connected with production and materials, forms and design that materializes through physical and mental experimentation that in turn creates a foundation of ideas, solutions to problems yet to be encountered, opportunities that are yet to be exploited and expose things that happen but that are not yet necessarily understood!

It is the ‘pack’ of ideas and thoughts that when dealt properly, give you an insight into what the client gets when they engage with Inflate…………..it’s simply like any relationship……………the more you get to know Inflate, the more you get out them!!

PRODUCES
 

Inflate ‘Produces’ is where Inflate product becomes reality. The process from ideas through to design and production are fully integrated.

However the designers do swallow their pride and recognize that b’low’ and behold, there are other creatives out there!!

Inflate Produces  is where the team takes great delight in sharing their experiences from their own bespoke projects and helps get a job done for your own production needs.

If a client has a technical design already, and is clear on their total requirements, Inflate ‘Produces’ is a full, joined up, manufacturing service that can call on any one of the three production routes: from one off work shop and studio in London, to factory in south England utilizing the latest in computer aided production, to HK office & China factory for volume overseas production management, they will work with you to choose the most appropriate and efficient route.

They specialize in blowing the imagination not the budget, truly offering the number one commercial design through to production service in the world for inflatables.

Scale of items cover large architectural structures all the way down to small products and packaging………… inflatable or not!

They are not limited by the manufacturing constraint rather seeing it as the opportunity to offer production services that enhance the product.

PRODUCTS

The Inflate ‘Products’ collection is the own brand product line of Inflate which offers a cost effective entry level to contemporary structures.

The collection is an eclectic mix of spirited products that epitomize the experimental drive of the studio. Be it in the manufacturing processes or materials that the team are working with, the ‘Products’ evolve from fresh ideas and creative opportunities.

The Inflate ‘Products’ team adopt the catchphrase  “Fun Functional & Appropriately Affordable” and bring humour and humanity to our everyday world of designed objects and ways of living.

The current range has evolved from Inflate experiences of producing indoor and outdoor event structures.  The collection is based on the award winning Office in a Bucket, which offers the entry level to portable buildings and spaces. The Turtle GT presents a modular structure that can be built in various sizes allowing for natural expansion.

The compact nature of inflatables benefit transportation and with the ease with which they can be erected has seen them fulfilling a multitude of services for pop up events and spaces.

STRUCTURE

The Inflate ‘Structures’ are born out of our ability to offer a comprehensive design & production service for inflatable architectural structures and buildings.

The ‘Structures’ team aim is to ‘want businesses, brands and the general public as a whole to see, feel, smell & taste Pneumatics’ as a genuine opportunity to build physical , creative , progressive and ecological solutions to problems all over planet earth and into space’.

Inflate ‘Structures’ has a design & development arm in central London where they use the latest CAD technology alongside experimental production techniques to produce the most stunning (yet functional) architectural inflatable structures for their clients.

The manufacturing arm has facilities in both the UK and the Far East and encompass both welding and stitching techniques, working from laser cut patterns to give the most accurate & finely honed construction results across a range of ground breaking materials.

A number of ‘off the shelf’ designs are available or a much used, fully bespoke technical service can be tailored to a clients’ particular projects needs.

Inflate ‘Structures’ are stunning – they actually take your breath away, the team are dynamic – architects of air – transformers of space!

Η Inflate ξεκίνησε από μία ομάδα τριών απόφοιτων σχεδιαστών ενώ σχεδόν αμέσως μετά προστέθηκε ακόμα ένας σχεδιαστής, ο οποίος όμως είχε σπουδάσει Νομική! Το ήθος της Inflate πηγάζει από την επιθυμία της να προσθέσει λίγο χιούμορ στη καθημερινότητα δημιουργώντας ενδιαφέροντα προϊόντα και χώρους, οι οποίοι θα «αιχμαλώτιζαν» όλη την ουσία της διασκέδασης.

Θέλουμε επίσης να αλλάξουμε την εντύπωση που έχει ο κόσμος για το design ξεκινώντας από την αντίληψη της δεκαετίας του ’80 ότι η έννοια του design προορίζεται για τους πλούσιους.

Συνειδητοποιήσαμε πως για να επιτύχουμε κάτι τέτοιο, τα προϊόντα μας έπρεπε να είναι «διασκεδαστικά», λειτουργικά και οικονομικά, γεγονός το οποίο θα τα έκανε πιο προσιτά στον κόσμο χωρίς να χάνεται η δημιουργική τους έκφραση. Υπήρχαν περιπτώσεις που ήμασταν υπερβολικοί – αυγοπότηρο, σέικερ ζάχαρης - και περιπτώσεις όπου υπήρχε μια ισορροπία – επιτραπέζιο φωτιστικό, λάμπα UFO, οθόνη FS.

Η Inflate έγινε της μόδας τη δεκαετία του ’90 και αυτό έδωσε ώθηση σε ό,τι κάναμε. Όμως όπως και στη μόδα ένα τέτοιο γεγονός οδηγεί σε ριζοσπαστικές αλλαγές στο studio. Τα τελευταία πέντε χρόνια δινόταν έμφαση στο να χρησιμοποιήσουμε τη γνώση μας σαν product designers στην έννοια της μαζικής παραγωγής. Η αλλαγή άρχισε με νέο κόσμο στο studio και νέο όραμα. Η πρώτη μεγάλη δουλειά δεν άργησε. Η πρόταση ήρθε από την British Land το 2002, για την δημιουργία μια κατασκευής 22 μέτρων, η οποία θα κάλυπτε την Broadgate Arena στο Λονδίνο. Για μένα η Inflate είναι κάτι το προσωπικό – είναι ένα ταξίδι, ένα σχέδιο, ένα studio.

DESIGNS
 

Το «Designs» από την Inflate είναι μία βραβευμένη συμβουλευτική υπηρεσία, η οποία προσφέρει έγκυρες και τολμηρές απαντήσεις στους πελάτες. Προτεραιότητά μας είναι η πρωτοπορία, η βοήθεια προς τους πελάτες προκειμένου να αναγνωρίσουν το όφελος του να λειτουργούν ένα επίπεδο πιο πάνω και όχι να υιοθετούν απλά κλασικές εμπορικές λύσεις.

Μέσω του σχεδιασμού και της παραγωγής των προϊόντων Inflate η ομάδα μας κατανοεί σε βάθος πως λειτουργεί η παραγωγική διαδικασία – από τη σύλληψη της ιδέας μέχρι την παραγωγή.

Ακόμα και αν έχετε ένα project το οποίο απαιτεί και αξίζει ιδιαίτερη προσέγγιση, είτε έχετε καταλήξει στο τελικό σχέδιο ή βρίσκεστε στο στάδιο του briefing, η Inflate «Designs» μπορεί να συνεργαστεί μαζί σας προκειμένου το αποτέλεσμα να είναι μοναδικό.

Η δουλειά μας ποικίλει από έργα μικρής κλίμακας μέχρι μεγάλες αρχιτεκτονικές κατασκευές.

Ούτε το όνομα μας μάς περιορίζει ούτε και η φαντασία μας!

IDEAS

Το «IDEAS» της Inflate αποτελεί τον πυρήνα με κάθε τι που έχει σχέση με την Inflate. Είναι ο κινητήριος άξονας, ο παλμός – η αναπνοή που δίνει ζωή στις σκέψεις με αποτέλεσμα να γίνονται πραγματικότητα.

Μέσα σε αυτή τη δεξαμενή σκέψης η ομάδα «IDEAS» της Inflate εξερευνά πλήθος πραγμάτων – τάσεις, τεχνικές, υλικά, παράξενους συνδυασμούς, την αγορά και τις ευκαιρίες που παρουσιάζονται - ….με δυο λόγια το άγνωστο.

Πηγάζει από την ακόρεστη αγάπη για όλα τα πράγματα που συνδέονται με την παραγωγή και τα υλικά, τις μορφές και το σχέδιο που παίρνει σάρκα και οστά από τους φυσικούς και διανοητικούς πειραματισμούς οι οποίοι με τη σειρά τους δημιουργούν τα θεμέλια των ιδεών, των λύσεων των μελλοντικών προβλημάτων, των ανεκμετάλλευτων ευκαιριών.

Είναι το σύνολο των ιδεών και των σκέψεων που όταν χρησιμοποιηθούν με τον κατάλληλο τρόπο δίνουν την αίσθηση του τι είναι αυτό που παίρνει ο πελάτης από την επαφή του με την Inflate…

PRODUCTS

 

Η συλλογή “PRODUCTS” της Inflate αποτελεί μια σειρά προϊόντων τα οποία είναι οικονομικά για τις σύγχρονες κατασκευές. Η συλλογή αποτελείται από ένα εκλεκτικό σύνολο από «πνευματώδη» προϊόντα τα οποία ολοκληρώνουν τις πειραματικές τάσεις του εργαστηρίου. Τα προϊόντα εξελίσσονται από φρέσκιες ιδέες και δημιουργικές ευκαιρίες είτε βρίσκονται στην διαδικασία κατασκευής είτε στο στάδιο κατά το οποίο η ομάδα εξερευνά τα υλικά.

Η ομάδα προϊόντων της Inflate υιοθετεί το μότο «Διασκεδαστικό, Λειτουργικό και Καταλλήλως Οικονομικό» και φέρνει το χιούμορ και τον ανθρωπισμό στην καθημερινότητα και τον τρόπο ζωής.

Η εν λόγω σειρά αναπτύχθηκε από τις εμπειρίες της Inflate τόσο από τις κατασκευές εσωτερικών χώρων όσο και εξωτερικών. Η συλλογή βασίζεται στην βραβευμένη Office in a Bucket, η οποία αποτελεί την αρχή για τα «κινητά» κτίρια και χώρους. Το Turtle GT παρουσιάζει μία κατασκευή η οποία μπορεί να χτιστεί με ποικίλα μεγέθη και έχοντας τη δυνατότητα φυσικής επέκτασης.

Η συμπαγής φύση των προϊόντων βοηθάει κατά την μεταφορά τους και την ανάρτησή τους.

Όλα τα προϊόντα της Inflate έχουν το δικό προσπέκτους με πληροφορίες. Τέλος, ορισμένα από τα προϊόντα είναι διαθέσιμα προς ενοικίαση.

ΔΟΜΗ
 

Οι «Κατασκευές» Inflate γεννιούνται από την ικανότητά μας να προσφέρουμε κατανοητό σχεδιασμό και παραγωγικές υπηρεσίες για αρχιτεκτονικές κατασκευές και κτίρια.

Η ομάδα «Structures» της Inflate στοχεύει οι επιχειρήσεις, οι εταιρίες και το κοινό να μπορούν να δουν, να νιώσουν, να μυρίσουν και να γευτούν τη διαφορετικότητα’ με αποτέλεσμα την κατασκευή φυσικών, δημιουργικών και οικολογικών λύσεων σε όλο τον πλανήτη γη ακόμα και στο διάστημα.

Οι ομάδα Inflate «Structures» διαθέτει εγκαταστάσεις στο Λονδίνο όπου χρησιμοποιείται η τελευταία τεχνολογία CAD μαζί με πειραματικές τεχνικές παραγωγής προκειμένου να δημιουργούνται οι πιο καταπληκτικές αρχιτεκτονικές κατασκευές για τους πελάτες.

Το βιομηχανικό παράρτημα έχει εγκαταστάσεις τόσο στο Ηνωμένο Βασίλειο όσο και στην Ανατολή και περιλαμβάνει τεχνικές επικόλλησης και «ραψίματος», δουλεύοντας από σχέδια κομμένα από laser προκειμένου να παρουσιάσει ακριβή και εκλεπτυσμένα αποτελέσματα σε ποικιλία υλικών.

Ένας μεγάλος αριθμός υλικών μπορεί να «κοπεί και να ραφτεί» ανάλογα με τις ανάγκες του πελάτη.
